Today I am going to attempt to identify some of the major points of the renaissance, which is often said to be the period following the middle age that saw a major cultural change.
What was the renaissance?
So the renaissance is a historical period that saw a shift in culture beginning in Italy and spreading across Europe. It was chacterised by a number of changes.
What follows are some of the changes:
Rebirth of classical culture: The renaissance saw a renewed interest in the roman and greek classical culture. This was reflected in the rise of oratory (public speaking) and imitation of classical art and philosophy.
New knowledge: The rise of experimentalism, the increased contact with Arabic knowledge and the spread of printing allowed huge amounts of new knowledge to be spread around Europe.
The Modern Period
It was seen as the beginning of the modern period and the beginnings of democratic ideas. It is believed that this is when modern man began to appear and that much of our present world is defined by events then.
However
Most of this is disputed by historians these days. However, you have to know a position to understand the problems with it, so with this image in mind you can go out and seek attacks against it if you want.
