Heracles (Hercules): The 12 tasks part 2
Heracles (Hercules) was called upon to complete 12 tasks to atone for killing his wife and children. For the first four visit here, or read on for tasks 5-8.
The fifth task: The Augean Stables
Heracles's fifth task was to clean the Augean Stables, which housed the greatest number of cattle in the country, in a single day. Heracles completed this task by changing the routes of two rivers and making these wash them out. This task didn't count towards the ten he needed to complete because he was aided by the rivers.
The sixth task: The Stmphalian Birds
Heracles then had to kill the Stymphalian Birds. He was gifted with a bronze clapper given him by Hephaestus and Athena, which causes the birds to take flight. He then killed them with arrows.
The seventh task: The Cretan Bull
Heracles (Hercules) was then made to capture the Cretan Bull. He lassoed it and rode it back to his cousin who decided to sacrifice it to Hera. However, Hera hated Hercules and refused as it would bring glory to the hero.
The eight task: The Mares of Diomedes
Heracles was to steal four man eating horses from King Diomedes. He did so, but the King pursued him. When the king caught up to Heracles, the hero defeated him and fed him to his own horses. This calmed the horses enough that their mouths could be bound and they could be contolled.
Well...
