Cleopatra: Part 2
Here's the second part of my biography of Cleopatra.
Cleopatra and Caesar
While Caesar wintered in Egypt he became Cleopatra’s lover and Caesar left her in control of Egypt, supported by three Roman legions. They had a son, who they called Caesarion.
Cleopatra and Caesarion then visited Rome, and they were present when Caesar was assassinated. They then returned to Egypt.
Cleopatra’s return
Cleopatra’s brother then died and Caesarion began to rule jointly. Cleopatra was soon called to meet with Mark Antony, who then became her lover. She became pregnant with his twins.
They separated for four years, but when they renewed their relationship Antony began to spend most of his time at Alexandria. He soon married Cleopatra
Rome’s war on Cleopatra
The actions of Antony angered the Romans, who levied war against Egypt. Antony was defeated in a naval battle. Then, as the Romans advanced across Egypt Antony’s armies abandoned him. When Antony died Cleopatra commit suicide, and Caesarion commit suicide.
And that's it,
